GETTING INTO THE GREAT OUTDOOR LIFE In Sept. 2010, Glenn took a trip on the Hudson River in Adirondack State Park, NY he had a great time on the white water rafting trip. There was camping nearby and he was at home again in the great outdoors. Unknown to me until later, this was near the camping site that I went to in the 1950’s at Seventh Lake with my family. (See the map below) I will have to go back and visit! There are a couple of places on the lake that have cottages and cabins. After I check them out, I’ll plan a trip to return! |

THE SEVENTH LAKE IN THE 1950’S Now back to the 1950’s and our family’s camping trips… We had a tan tent of canvas. Dad, the great camper, was up one night during a downpour and outside the tent digging trenches. I don’t remember getting wet so it must have worked. One afternoon I was sitting on the dock on the lake and fishing. Dad came to get me and said that it would be getting dark soon so I had to come back. I asked to stay longer to get my fish. Right before dusk, I caught a sunfish! Mom cooked it the next morning for me! We rented a row boat and went around the lake, too. After out trip we went to a gift shop and were allowed one souvenir. I picked a pillow of balsam needles and my brother picked a small box. I had that pillow for many years and sniffed the memories of Seventh Lake. Going to the Seventh Lake and the fun there was one great experience of my lifetime . I’m still looking for the picture of the fish, the camp site with Mom and Dad, and the picture of us all in the row boat… MORE LATER... |
