THE “REAL” KITCHEN GARDENS FROM HISTORY! page2 |

OUR 8-SQUARE GARDEN We have a nice 8-square garden that is very easy to maintain now with the brick pathways. In the picture above, you can see that there are different kinds of bricks. Traditionally, scrap bricks were used to do garden work. People would take broken pieces, pieces from damaged buildings, etc. to use for pathways and edging in their gardens. We did use some scrap and broken pieces from the old porch and from the patios. We then used 3 different kinds of new brick to make up the designs and fill the remainder of the pathways. The weeds are killed with Round-up on a windless day by holding the wand very close to them. We don’t want the spray drifting on to the veggies! |
