RECOMMENDED NATIVE PLANT BOOKS & INFORMATION

NORTHEASTERN USA

NEW BOOK FOR 2005

NATIVE PLANTS THAT WE HAVE IN THE GARDENS OF BOXWOOD MANOR

On  the home page (THE FRONT DOOR),  we have a few pictures of some of the native plants that we grow here. There are more on the FOR YOUR GARDEN page also.

We are currently making a new list of the many native plants that we have that we find useful for the home landscape. Some native plants and wildflowers are not useful or they are invasive or suitable for large acreage, such as a natural area for wildlife.

The native plants that are good for the home garden, in general, are good for wildlife but are good for easier landscaping and maintenance. Many of the native plants have multiple uses.

For example, the native lilac is great for windbreaks. We found that it is hardy here where we have bad crosswinds. It also provides shelter for the wildlife and flowers for us!
