Here are the gardens of picture #2 in the open view. You can see the grassy pathway as you go ahead.

These is a sense of proportion between the amount of grass and the amount of plants. Above the yellow-green plant, is the use of the English design principle called the "borrowed view”. The garden design here makes use of the view beyond, which is framed by the tree above.

In our gardens here at BOXWOOD MANOR, we have an arch between the white pines and firs at the rear boundary. This opening allows us to borrow the view of our neighbor's 50-year old Japanese maple. The arch is the "frame" for our picture.
